HolyApps ("we", "our", or "us") builds mobile applications for everyday life. This privacy policy explains how our apps handle your information.
This policy applies to all apps published by HolyApps, including:
Our apps do not require an account, login, or any personal information to use. App data such as your bookmarks, highlights, notes, and settings is stored locally on your device. Apps that work fully offline never send this data anywhere; where an app uses an online service, exactly what it sends is described under "Network Use" below.
Our apps contain no advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or cross-app/cross-site trackers, and we never sell or rent your data. We do collect a small amount of anonymous usage data in our offline card games — 拖拉机, 斗地主, 大老二, 十三支 and 台灣麻將 — to help us understand which features are used and to keep the games balanced. This data is sent to our own backend and, in some of these games, also to Google Analytics for Firebase (a Google analytics service) so we can measure engagement and retention. It consists of a random, per-install identifier (not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any account) together with basic gameplay events such as app opens, screen views, and matches started or finished, plus general technical information Google Analytics collects automatically — such as device model, operating-system version, and coarse region or country. It contains no personal information and no chat or message content, is sent on a best-effort basis only when a connection is available (the games are fully playable offline), and is never used to track you across other apps or websites — so no App Tracking Transparency prompt is needed. Data sent to Google is processed under Google's privacy policy. See "Network Use" for details.
Many of our apps work fully offline and make no network requests at all; several others use the network, each for a single, specific purpose described below. Hello World Travel Kit fetches live currency exchange rates from a third-party rate provider (open.er-api.com). These requests retrieve public rate data only — no personal information, account, device identifier, or location is ever sent. The latest rates are cached on your device so the app keeps working offline.
40 / 40百科 is a voice knowledge app, so it needs the microphone and an online service. When you tap the microphone and speak, the app uses your device's built-in speech recognition to turn your speech into text; depending on your device and its settings, this may be processed on-device or by Apple's speech-recognition service (governed by Apple's own privacy policy). The app does not save or upload audio recordings — only the resulting text.
To answer your question, the text of that question is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend at api.holyapps.io, where it is processed by our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), and may be checked against public reference sources such as Wikipedia and Wikidata. Each installation is assigned a random, anonymous identifier that is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any account; it is used only to keep your question history and to limit abuse. Your questions and answers are stored on your device and, under this anonymous identifier, on our backend. To request deletion of that backend history, email [email protected].
Hello: Free NYC shows free things to do around you in New York City, drawn from public NYC Open Data and Wikipedia. To find what is nearby, the app sends your location coordinates (or a neighborhood you pick manually) over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend at api.holyapps.io, which returns nearby parks, events, landmarks, and facts. Images shown in the app are also loaded through our backend so they load quickly. Requests carry no name, email, Apple ID, or account — only the coordinates needed to answer "what's near this spot." Your location is used to serve your request and is not used to build a profile or track you over time. When you use the in-app "Ask" feature, the text of your question is sent to our backend and answered by matching it against the same public data — it is not linked to your identity.
Our offline card games (拖拉机, 斗地主, 大老二, 十三支, 台灣麻將) are fully playable with no connection. When a connection happens to be available, they send anonymous gameplay statistics — a random, per-install identifier plus events such as app opens, screen views, and matches played — over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend at api.holyapps.io, and fetch remote game-tuning settings (such as difficulty). In some of these games, the same anonymous gameplay events are also sent to Google Analytics for Firebase, Google's analytics service, which assigns its own random app-instance identifier and automatically records basic technical details such as device model, operating-system version, and coarse region; Google processes this data on our behalf under Google's privacy policy. No personal information, account, chat content, or precise location is ever sent to either destination, and no identifier is linked to your name, email, or Apple ID. This is best-effort only: with no connection, the games play exactly the same. Scores in these games are an on-device tally with no real-world value, and nothing in them can be purchased.
大老二 (Big 2) also shows an approximate region — an IP屬地 — beside each player's nickname on its weekly leaderboard: a city or county for players in Taiwan, and a country everywhere else. Our server derives that label from the network location our hosting provider (Cloudflare) has already resolved for your connection before our code runs. Your IP address itself is never stored, no more precise location is ever requested or kept, and the app never asks for or uses your device's location services. The label is stored alongside your random, anonymous identifier and your weekly score, refreshes the next time you score, and is visible to other players on that leaderboard. It is never used for advertising, never combined with data from other apps or websites, and never used to track you.
大老二 (Big 2) does not use your device's location services at all and never asks permission for them. The region shown next to your nickname on its weekly leaderboard is worked out on our server from the network location of your connection — city or county level within Taiwan, country level everywhere else — as described under "Network Use". We do not store your IP address and we do not keep a history of where you have been.
Hello: Free NYC uses your device location only while you are using the app, and only to show what is nearby and how far away it is. You can also set your area manually instead of using GPS. Location is requested with your permission through the operating system, and you can turn it off at any time in your device settings; the app then works from a neighborhood you choose. We do not store your location history, and coordinates sent to our backend are used to answer your immediate request, not retained to identify you.
Some of our apps offer optional local notifications (such as prayer reminders). These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device using the operating system's built-in notification system. No data about your notification preferences or interactions is sent to us or any third party.
Our apps do not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Our apps are safe for users of all ages.
Our apps contain no ads and no social-media integrations. Some of our offline card games use Google Analytics for Firebase, a Google analytics service, to collect the anonymous gameplay statistics described above; Google processes this data on our behalf and receives no information that identifies you. Aside from this, our apps do not integrate with third-party services that collect user data. Hello World Travel Kit contacts a public currency-rate API (open.er-api.com) to show live exchange rates, and can open official government websites in your browser for visa information — neither receives any personal data from us. 40 relies on Apple (device speech recognition), Anthropic (the AI that generates answers), and public reference sources such as Wikipedia/Wikidata; none of these receive your identity, only the data needed to perform the request. Hello: Free NYC draws on public NYC Open Data and Wikipedia through our own backend; these sources receive no personal data from us.
All data generated by the app (such as your settings, bookmarks, saved preferences, and — for Hello World Travel Kit — your home country, passport selection, and cached exchange rates; for 40, your question history) is stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the app, this local data will be deleted. We have no ability to access, recover, or restore your local data. (40 also stores question history, and our card games store anonymous gameplay events, on our backend under a random anonymous identifier, as described under "Network Use.")
